Occupation Description<\/h3>\n
Investigations: The Detectives\nduties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: <\/o:p><\/p> <\/o:p><\/p>1. <\/span><\/b>Conducts\nfollow up investigations on each assigned case, until there is an approved\ndisposition.<\/o:p><\/p>2. <\/span><\/b>Investigates\ndelinquent and status offenses committed by juveniles<\/o:p><\/p>3. <\/span><\/b>Informs\nthe Investigation Division Lieutenant of all progress in cases assigned by\npromptly submitting detailed accurate supplementary reports.<\/o:p><\/p>4. <\/span><\/b>Develops\nand follows up on intelligence information regarding criminal activity and\nidentification, and forward such information to the Patrol Division if\napplicable.<\/o:p><\/p>5. <\/span><\/b>Develops\nconfidential sources that provide information to further investigative\neffectiveness.<\/o:p><\/p>6. <\/span><\/b>Conducts\ncrime scene searches, gathers and documents evidence and preserves physical\nevidence.<\/o:p><\/p>7. <\/span><\/b>Assists\nand cooperates with other Jacksonville Police Department personnel in the\ninvestigation of offenses, toward the objectives of apprehension and\nprosecution of criminals and the recovery of property.<\/o:p><\/p>8. <\/span><\/b>Shares\ninformation and cooperates in investigations with local, state and federal law\nenforcement agencies whenever appropriate.<\/o:p><\/p>9. <\/span><\/b>Prepares\ncases and presents evidence in court.<\/o:p><\/p>10. <\/span><\/b>Questions\nand obtains statements from suspects, victims, witnesses and other interested\nparties.<\/o:p><\/p>11. <\/span><\/b>Conducts\nbackground investigations for City of Jacksonville applicants.<\/o:p><\/p>12. <\/span><\/b>Enforces\nstate laws and city ordinances and makes arrests when applicable.<\/o:p><\/p>13. <\/span><\/b>Completes\nand forwards such forms, reports, and records as may be required.<\/o:p><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p>
14. <\/span><\/b>Performs\nother duties as may be required by state law, city ordinance, or departmental\nrule or assigned by a superior officer.<\/o:p><\/p> \n <\/div>\n \n
